Different Kinds of Camping Lanterns: Situations Dictate Choice

Whether you use camping lantern for leisure or for business, the situation in the location that you are in will dictate which camping lanterns or the best choice for you. The most popular camping Lateran is the Coleman lantern. The Coleman lantern and others of the same quality comes in many styles and shapes. The fuel of which the lantern uses is also as varied as the styles and shapes of the lanterns. The fuel that can burn inside a lantern can be propane, LED lanterns, LCD lanterns, battery-operated lanterns, and kerosene operated lanterns. If you are going camping or have an outside activity you might want to look at which lantern is best for you and which lantern is best for the outside activity in which you have planned.


A main rule for camping or outside activities is to never have an open flame inside a tent. By using an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) lantern at night you will never have to worry about the open flame. These kinds of lanterns will give you ample light and at the same time provide the safety that you need in enjoy while camping in outside environment. There is no hot glass or other flammable things that will ignite your tent or sleeping bag and you will be able to sleep through the night knowing that there is nothing that will cause flame or fire.


If you want to use a more traditional lantern then the LCD lantern, you might want to use an old-fashioned battery lantern. The only drawback to this type of lantern is that you need to bring plenty of batteries for backup in case you use the lantern more than you think you will. You can even buy a camping lantern that well allow you to crank energy into the battery through a generator and you can reuse the battery over and over again. This saves time and money after the initial investment, but you can be assured that your batteries will not go out because you can generate your own electricity by using the crank.


If you are a traditionalist you may want to use a propane or kerosene lantern. These types of camping lanterns will give you the experience that you are looking forward to, but beware. These types of lanterns carry an open flame and can become hot. They should not be used by children and if they are used by children they should be used under adult supervision. These types of lanterns have flammable materials and could cause the exterior of the lantern to be hot or if overturned, can cause a major fire. These types of lanterns have been used for many years and with a few safety tips and adhering to be policies of your campsite, you can enjoy the rustic outdoor light like your forefathers without spending a lot of money on more innovative camping lanterns.
