Propane Camping Lanterns

Propane camping lanterns are a favorite with regular camping enthusiasts. There is nothing like a propane camping lantern to lighten up an evening in the wilderness around the fire. Propane lanterns are perhaps among the most popular of all camping lanterns. You should always take good care of your propane lanterns. Needless to say, taking good care of your lantern is something that you need to look at if you want them to perform at their optimum level. Regular maintenance will ensure that your propone camp lantern lasts you for a pretty long period of time. In fact, with good care they could be your long lasting companions during your outdoor adventures.

Whenever you are leaving for camping, make sure that you carry along with you extra supply of propane bottles. This would ensure that you do not end up running out of propane and end up spending a dark night at the campsite. You should be also careful not to touch a propane camping lantern when it’s on. You could easily end up with severe burns in your hand. A propane lamp can get really hot. Also, wait until it has cooled down after extinguishing before you touch it. This could also cause burns to your hand. You should also ensure that the lantern is not left unattended too, particularly if you have children coming along with you for camping.

Having a propane camping lantern is one thing and taking good care of it is another. You should always be on the lookout for damaged parts in a propane lantern. Damaged mantles for example, should be immediately replaced. While camping it is always a good idea to carry along with you a few spare mantles.

You should always try and keep propane camping lanterns dust free and clean. It is best that you use dishwashing liquid for wiping the dirt of the glass. You should not make the mistake of storing a damp lamp. You should always make sure that the lantern is completely dry before you store it. While storing propane camping lanterns it is always a good idea to unscrew the propane bottle. This would make your lantern much lighter and therefore, easier to store.

Once you are back from camping, it is best that you store your lantern in the case or box that it originally came from. Just in case you do not have the case with you, a plastic bag would be a good alternative to store it. With a plastic bag though, you need to ensure that you seal the bag tightly. This will make sure that your propane lantern is protected against insects and also prevent the breaking of the lantern’s glass.
